I’ve been invited by Working Triathlete, one of the leading endurance-sport training programs in the U.S., to participate in a series of podcasts that focuses on the mental side of triathlon. In the series, we’ll be doing a deep dive into all things psychological and emotional in the complex and demanding sport of triathlon.

In Podcast #3, with our hosts, Conrad Goeringer and Derek Stone, I explore the impact (mostly negative) that outcome expectations have on triathletes in terms of distraction, pressure, and anxiety on race day. I will also offer practical tools for shifting outcome expectations to outcome goals, which takes the pressure off, and then to process goals, with which you can focus on what will enable you to have a great race to get the results you wanted in the first place.
