I’m approached by sports and technology companies frequently wanting to leverage my credibility and social-media presence to market their products. In almost every case, I decline their offers. At the same time, in my ongoing search for “really cool things” in my sporting life, I periodically discover products that clear the bar in what I value in sports-related gear: innovative design, superior quality, and leading-edge performance, comfort, and looks. I then reach out to these companies and offer to promote them in both my professional and athletic lives. Over the last few years, I’ve established great partnerships with some outstanding sports companies.

I’m excited to introduce my latest partnership, with BiSaddle, a U.S. company that makes the first and only adjustable saddles for all types of bikes. As many of you know, I was hit by a car in September of 2021. The bad news was that my triathlon bike was destroyed. The good news was that I wasn’t destroyed. And the other good news was that my insurance company was going to enable me to build my dream triathlon bike (I’ll be introducing it to you in the next few weeks).

In identifying what components I wanted on my new tri-bike, I thought about what changes I needed to make in my dream bike for it to be fast and comfortable. I have a long history of real discomfort when I ride either my road bike and triathlon bike. The last 10 miles of rides are usually torture; my back hurts, my hamstrings and gluts are on fire, and, worst of all, my private parts are completely numb. So, a new saddle was an obvious addition to my list of components.

I’ve always wondered how the part of the bike that has the most contact with our bodies can be such a big problem that no one has adequately solved. But I’ve always accepted that the discomfort was just part of the deal when we ride bikes.

Then, then I came across BiSaddle. An adjustable saddle that can be customized to our own unique anatomy. What a no-brainer, I thought, and how did it take so long for someone to think of it. So, I ordered a Stealth for my road bike and a Bonneville for tri-bike and had my bike fitter set me up on them.

On my very first rides, I knew BiSaddle was a game changer. No back pain, no hammies or gluts that needed extinguishing, and best of all, I could tell that my private parts were still down there.

Sure, BiSaddle is a bit more expensive than some saddles, but they’re less than other top saddles. But, OMG, given all the miles I put on my bikes and all of the pain I’ve endured over the years, it was money very well spent.

So, if you don’t want every ride to be a big pain in your you-know-what, go to Bisaddle.com and get one of your own. I promise your backside will thank you every mile of every ride!

Over the next several weeks, I’ll be re-introducing these exceptional companies to you for 2022 so perhaps you will explore adding what they have to offer to your quiver of sports equipment.
