I wanted to share some exciting news with everyone. I’ve recently accepted a faculty position at the University of Denver. No, we’re not moving to Colorado, at least not any time soon. Let me explain.

The half-time, core-faculty position is as a Clinical Associate Professor in the Sport & Performance Psychology Program within DU’s Graduate School of Professional Psychology. My responsibilities will include teaching, supervision of master’s and doctoral students, and, of course, my usual writing and consulting.

Here’s how it will work. Starting in September, I will commute to Denver every other week and spend three days on campus each visit. It’s a nine-month position, so it will leave me plenty of time to continue my consulting and speaking.

In early 2012, I’ll decide whether I like the position and want to stay. If so, then it will be up to my wife and me to decide whether we want to relocate to CO.

The opportunity was too good to pass up and this decision gives my career new and exciting options. As someone wise once said (or maybe I’m just making this up), “It’s better to walk through a door to see what’s in a room than walk past the door and wonder what was inside.”
