In either case, we then invest ourselves in these expectations which often turns into overinvestment because the crisis is so important to us. In turn, our overinvestment interferes with how we respond. As you will learn shortly, expectations are often the \u201ckiss of death\u201d when it comes to getting what you want in a crisis.
