Prime Ski Racing 101: Train Your Mind for Ski Racing Success

This 6-week course, the first in the four-part Prime Ski Racing series for racers, will focus on two essential practical areas that directly impact ski racing performance. First, the course will explore five mental ‘muscles’ that athletes must develop to maximize their performance: motivation, confidence, intensity, focus, and mindset. Second, it will examine five mental tools that racers can use in their training and competitive efforts: emotions, imagery, routines, breathing, trust. The course will introduce these mental muscles and tools in a clear and relevant way and offer practical strategies for incorporating them into racers’ training and race preparations.

Prime Ski Training 202: Get Better Faster Through Mental Preparation

This 6-week course, the second in the four-part Prime Ski Racing series for racers, explores a wide range of mental approaches and techniques to help racers get more out of their training efforts. Given the emphasis on deliberate practice in athlete development, identifying the specific means for achieving high quality training is essential for athletes to maximize their training efforts and technical and tactical progress. In particular, this course will introduce five key strategies aimed at optimizing racers’ training efforts: perspective, train like you race, consistency, experiment, and quality.

Prime Ski Mind 303: Developing Championship Attitudes

This 6-week course, the third in the four-part Prime Ski Racing series for racers, describes important attitudes that must be developed that set racers up for success. Five attitudes act as the foundation for enabling racers to be fully confident and committed when they get into the starting gate: ownership, process, challenge, long-term perspective, and risk. Additionally, five obstacles must be removed to free athletes from fear, doubt, and worry: overinvestment, perfectionism, fear of failure, expectations, and negativity. This course will provide insights into the attitudes that support and those that interfere with success and show how to develop the healthy attitudes and remove the obstacles.

Prime Ski Tips 606: Secrets of Success from the World Cup

This 6-week course, the last in the four-part Prime Ski Racing series for athletes, will describe tips that I learned from some of the best ski racers in the world. These “nuggets of wisdom” are the little details that can make the difference between failure, mediocrity, and achieving your ski racing goals. Having already developed mastery in your conditioning and the technical and tactical aspects of skiing, it is these small, yet powerful, mental tools that can enable you to ski your fastest consistently.

Prime Ski Coaching 404: Psychology of Developing Champion Ski Racers

This 4-week course will provide ski coaches with a foundation of knowledge about the impact of the mind on training ski racers. The course will begin by exploring the role of team culture on athlete development, specifically how to establish essential values and attitudes that are woven into the fabric of the team. Next, it will show coaches how to incorporate mental training into their athletes’ overall off-snow training regimen. The course will conclude with an in-depth look at how to make mental training a part of racers’ on-snow preparations.

Prime Sport Parenting 505: Raising Successful and Happy Athletes
This 4-week course will offer parents the insights, information, and tools they need to be conscious, positive, and active forces in their young athletes’ lives. The course will explore the challenges that parents face in best supporting their children. It will describe unhealthy messages that parents often communicate including perfectionism, fear of failure, expectations, and an emphasis on results. The course will include the dos and don’ts of sport parenting. It will provide parents with practical tools they can use to ensure that their children become both successful and happy.
